Power to the people — Welcome to the retail revolution

Your dollar matters.

It’s all too easy to forget the influence you wield with every dollar you spend. The ongoing GameStop saga is a powerful reminder of this.

While we don’t know where GME shares are headed, the movement has revealed a larger truth: We have entered a new era of investing. Thanks to technology and regulatory evolutions, retail investors have never held more power. As a small group of Redditors has proved, Wall Street alone cannot dictate the wills and whims of markets. Looking beyond public markets, this phenomenon comes into even clearer focus.

We founded Republic to give people the power to invest in the future they believe in. You’re not just another shareholder, you’re an active participant. When you invest in a company at the earliest stages, you become an integral part of the companies creating our future. More than one million of you have already agreed by joining the Republic community and investing in more than 250 completed deals (and counting).

The future of investing will be defined by individual investors like you, not giant financial institutions. Passion, power, and profit don’t need to be mutually exclusive when it comes to investing. This is true now more than ever.

This is just the beginning. We are committed to overturning the status quo, where less than 10% of venture funding deals go to companies with underrepresented founders (read: anybody who isn’t a white male).

Make no mistake: Today’s startups are tomorrow’s Fortune 500 companies.

When you invest, you are empowering the new leaders of tomorrow who will be running the private sector and our country. We believe in a world that is diverse, sustainable, and connected. Let’s empower companies who create value for the community as their main priority, not as an afterthought.

Your dollar is your vote for the future you want to create.

We’re living at an historic crossroads. Uncertainty about the future looms over us at all times, and many early stage and innovative companies fail to achieve their goals. But now more than ever, it’s important to remember that you have the opportunity to be part of the solution. As Booker T. Washington so eloquently summed up, “If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else.”

The kind of future you want to create rests on where you put your dollar. What will you give power to?

Welcome to the Retail Revolution. Power to the people.
